Given that the Siege Of Trenzalore lasts for around 900 years, its understandable that a number of enemies would turn up to join in on the fun. Well, as many as the budget would allow. And while all the regular nasties like the Daleks and the Weeping Angels get a look in, there are far more that you more than likely missed. At start of the episode, we see (among others) an Ice Warrior ship, the Silurian Ark (Dinosaurs On A Spaceship), and various other ships; someone on Trenzalore puts on a puppet show where the Doctor fights a Monoid (first seen in 1965s The Ark), and there are drawings of a Racnoss and what looks like a Pyrovile in the bell tower. Incredibly easy to miss but they give more of an insight into the centuries we didnt see during the Doctor's time on Trenzalore.
1. Ellie's Death The Rings Of Akhaten
In The Rings Of Akhaten, the flashback scene showing Clara and her father at her mother Ellies grave is mainly expository but the date on Ellies headstone implies that theres a bit more to it than just a tragically premature death. Namely a surprising and quite neat connection to the very start of New Who. The date of death on Ellies headstone is the 5th of March 2005. The day after Rose met the Doctor and the day the Nestene Consciousness invaded Earth. Although it doesnt necessarily follow that Ellies death was a result of the invasion, the direct implication is that she was killed by an Auton. Looks like what Mickey said about the Doctors name being followed by a list of the dead was pretty accurate. Have we missed any Easter Eggs out? What have you noticed subtly slipped into an episode of Doctor Who? Let us know in the comments section below...
