Michelle's death came during the firecracker that was the opening to Day 5. As one of four people who knew Jack had faked his death, she is killed in an attempt to lure him out of hiding, being a victim of a car bomb which explodes when she leaves to help investigate former US President David Palmer's shooting, a man who she greatly admired. Both she and Tony had decided to leave their careers at CTU behind and start afresh, which just proves - much like with Jack - that you're never truly out. Michelle was a strong-willed character who had endured a lot during her time in 24, but her loyalty to Jack stood her above most, even going as far as to risk facing treason charges in Day 2 alongside him. Her relationship with Tony Almeida was also one of the most enduring aspects of the earlier seasons of 24 and it was a shame to see it end. We would later find out she was pregnant with Tony's child when she died. Consumed by vengeance and in a character arc that would divide fans considerably, Tony would covertly infiltrate the organisation behind the atrocities of Day 5 and play a vital role in Day 7.
