4. You're Probably Not Even Over Edgars Death Yet
On Day 5, with Jack in the building, terrorists released Sentox nerve gas inside CTU Los Angeles where only a portion of the employees were able to make it into the airtight safe rooms. One who did not make it was Edgar Stiles, a close friend of Chloe OBrian. Edgar had gone to check on a colleague and lost his life because of his heroism. Through the glass walls of the airtight room, Chloe, along with Jack, had to watch Edgar die from inhalation of the toxic gas.
3. For The Greater Good
On Day 3, Ryan Chappelle, the acting director of CTU Los Angeles, was discovering the involvement of a bio-terrorist named Stephen Saunders in the days events. Saunders realised Chappelles actions and, by holding the United States hostage with a threat of releasing a deadly virus into the public, ordered the President of the United States to execute him. With the greater good in mind, President David Palmer ordered Jack to complete the execution. Generally, Jack could always find a way to get everyone out of these situations safely, but when he couldnt, he complied with the terrorists demands.
