If you thought Jack's family being terrorists was bad enough, things went even loopier in season seven, as it was revealed that Tony Almeida, who had seemingly expired before our very eyes in season five, was very much alive and well, and out for revenge against the US government. The enormously convoluted reveal is made that, in fact, Christopher Henderson missed stabbing Tony's heart, and managed to revive him within 10 minutes, then turning him against the good guys. It's later revealed that Tony was in fact working undercover with Chloe and Bill Buchanan to expose corrupt government officials, though this turns out to be a double-twist, as Tony later turns out to actually be working with the terrorists, before it's later revealed that Tony has only been doing all this to get close to Alan Wilson, the man who killed Michelle and their unborn son. Simply, it's just too silly and contrived, even for 24's standards. It was great to see Soul Patch back, but the constant twists and turns weren't shocking, just obnoxious and annoying.
4. Bill Buchanan Dies (Season 7, Episode 13)
Despite seeming like another uptight stuffed shirt during his earlier appearances in 24, Bill Buchanan really came into his own when he began working closely with Jack and Chloe, and ultimately, got his moment of glory during General Benjamin Juma's siege on the White House. Bill took the President Taylor's personal tracker to lure soldiers away, giving Taylor ample time to get to the safe room, while he was captured. In order to get the safe room open, Bill ended up assaulting a guard, grabbing his gun and firing it, causing natural gas canisters nearby to detonate, and allowing Jack to rescue Taylor from within the safe room. Bill's charred corpse is reflected upon by Jack for a moment, and Bill received a well-earned silent clock for his efforts.
