24: Live Another Day - 10 Reasons To Be Excited For Jack Bauer's Return
2. Same Producers, Same Proven Style, But With Plenty Of New Elements
Many of the show's writing and production staff will return, including Howard Gordon the returning show-runner, who was one of the writers for seasons 1 and 2, and was quickly promoted to head writer for seasons 3 and 4. Eventually he became a producer, and began taking full charge of the show, and will continue to do so during its ninth season. Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) will also return as producer, alongside Jon Cassar and many others. The show will retain much of its style from before including the real time hook, and the 'countdown timer' that appears before and after each commercial to let you know what time of day it is. Additionally, there will be plenty of torture scenes (which some viewers may cringe at, and for good reason, the show can often go very extreme on its depiction of torturing someone for information) like before, and most likely the three villain hierarchy-where the original antagonist dies and it is revealed he has a boss, and that his boss has a boss-will return. Oftentimes some of these typical 24 elements may cause the show to seem repetitious, but it's the way the execution is handled that allows uniqueness to strive. Despite much of the old returning, there will be plenty of new as already discussed: new characters, new setting, new episodic format, new air season and night, new appearances for old characters, and a new danger. This is still 24, but it's as new as it ever has been.
Hey there, I'm Joseph, a college student, and a huge fan of a variety of nerdy stuff. Ultimately I'm a big-time Star Wars fanboy, and an avid Nintendo fan. Some of my favorite video games of all time include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Paper Mario series, and Metroid Prime, but I am known to greatly enjoy other games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo. Star Wars is my obsession, and I'm a massive Clone Wars fan and will never overcome Disney's cancellation of the series. I'm thrilled to write for What Culture, and I hope you all enjoy my articles!
