24 Most Memorable Deaths From 24

12. Christopher Henderson

Played By - Peter Weller, Episode - Day 5: 5.00am-6.00am Wherever he goes, it seems inevitable that people connected to Jack Bauer will turn on him at some stage, regardless of how deep their connection is. From his father to long-time co-workers such as Nina Myers and Tony Almeida. Christopher Henderson, Jack's mentor who first brought him to CTU, does so in season five. Having been dismissed from his position within the organisation as a result of an investigation into corruption spearheaded by his protégé, he finds employment at a defence contractor and becomes complicit in the conspiracy to kill David Palmer. When Jack investigates the contractor, Henderson proclaims innocence and appears to help Jack, only to soon attempt to kill him. Jack bounces back, however, kneecapping Henderson's wife in a brutal and unsuccessful attempt and making him talk. As the day rolls on, Henderson appears to kill Tony and takes Jack's girlfriend Audrey Raines hostage, making the final confrontation between the two a personal one with lots of history behind it. Jack emerges victorious, though only after mercilessly shooting his mentor in cold blood and later claiming to have done the deed in self defence.

11. Omar Hassan

Played By - Anil Kapoor, Episode - Day 8: 7.00am-8.00am 24's eighth season focuses on a peace treaty between the United States (led by President Allison Taylor) and the Islamic Republic of Kamistan, a thinly-veiled allegory of Iran led by Omar Hassan. There are many within his country (and in Russia) who do not wish for such a treaty (which would result in their nuclear disarmament) to go ahead, however, resulting in several attempts to assassinate him on American soil. Jack Bauer helps to thwart one of these, before Kamistani terrorists led by Samir Mehran take Hassan's daughter Kayla hostage and threaten to detonate a bomb in New York unless their leader is handed over to them, and he willingly surrenders despite Jack's protests. A mock trial of Hassan is then streamed on the Internet, in which Samir reads out the 'crimes' of his President. Jack and former FBI agent Renee Walker track the broadcast and are seemingly set to rescue Hassan, only for it to dawn on them that the video was a pre-recorded one when they reach his location and find him with his throat slit.
