25 Best Episodes Of Star Trek EVER

7. Mirror, Mirror - The Original Series

Mirror Spock
Paramount

Spock with a beard.

On the strength of that alone, this episode could have made this list. However the fascistic universe introduced here is so much more than that and would be revisited time and again, particularly in Deep Space Nine. The episode is another example of changing up what the characters do and say, relishing in playing evil and cartoonish versions of themselves.

But again, Spock with a beard. It is Leonard Nimoy who sells this episode more than any other. Its an episode based on the comedy aspect and its nailed by Spock's deadpan performance. Plus McCoy and the others get to jump him and are resoundingly beaten.

It stands up as one of the best early episodes of Trek because the actors got to show a bit of range. Nichelle Nichols and George Takei in particular get to ham up their respective roles with relish. It's an episode with something for everyone!
