25 Best Episodes Of Star Trek EVER

8. ...All Good Things - Star Trek The Next Generation

Star Trek The Next Generation All Good Things
CBS

The best finale of any of the series to date, All Good Things highlighted everything that's good about Star Trek. It gave scifi, it gave heart and it gave action. It bookended The Next Generation to remind audiences that the show, and it a greater sense the future itself, was a trial for the powers and wonders of humanity.

Picard has always maintained the strength of humankind and Q has always doubted it. But it is Q who helps Picard to save everything. He simply offers a helping hand and Picard figures it out for himself, showing Q and the Continuum that when they allow their minds to expand, Humanity is capable of greatness beyond the day to day exploration of space. They are capable of reaching the unknown and that is what Star Trek is truly about.

All Good Things closes the series but of course the films and now Star Trek Picard are continuing the story. But that seven year run of one of the best science fiction television shows in history came to end with that last hand of poker and the Enterprise flying off into the great unknown. While Star Trek Generations would be released less than a year later, that true sense of peaceful ending still remains on the closing credits of this episode.

To some, this is the true ending of the story of The Next Generation. And there's nothing wrong with that.
