25 Best Superhero TV Shows Of All Time
11. Jessica Jones
The second of Netflix's Marvel shows, Jessica Jones arrived in November 2015 and it certainly gave its predecessor a run for its money when it came to being the best superhero TV show of the time.
While Daredevil was a disturbingly dark saga, it still had many of the recognisable elements of a superhero show; what set Jessica Jones apart, however, was how little of them it employed. Oh sure, you had your powerful lead in Krysten Ritter's titular character, but the show itself leaned more in noir than anything else, employing many of the conventions you'd see in detective fiction instead. And that's because Jessica Jones was more antihero than superhero, obsessed with tracking down the one man who ruined her life.
Playing out like a thrilling graphic novel, the first season was dark, twisted bliss that benefitted from its never-ending supply of gritty realism and a very well-storylined narrative. Though it would never reach such dramatic heights again, it still remained ahead of most shows airing at the time while Ritter was an absolute revelation at all times.
