25 Best Superhero TV Shows Of All Time
10. Watchmen
Watchmen is quite the anomaly and that right there is what makes it one of the most compelling shows on this list. Yes, it's becoming something of a trend to use the superhero medium in order to produce something that isn't very superhero at all, but it's this HBO series that truly manages to pull it off to perfection.
Billed as a remix of the original comic series (and film), it is technically a sequel but it takes place 34 years after those iconic events and it documents one of the most unusual worlds to ever make its presence felt on the screen, and through tales of systematic racism, it uses that world to spawn conversations about our own world - both the history of it and the future.
The word 'gripping' gets thrown around an awful lot these days (heck, it's popped up a number of times on this list), but few words can sum up Watchmen better than it. It's not an easy watch and it's stylistically confusing, but it's an incredibly thought-provoking piece of art that is worthy of every bit of praise it receives. And it's also worth it just to see Regina King turn in a performance that is nothing short of divine.
