25 Greatest Characters Across The Entire Whedonverse

12. Lorne

lorneAppeared in: Angel The loveable green singing demon from Pylea originally simply known as "The Host" - wonderfully portrayed by the talented, late Andy Hallet - was probably one of the Whedonverse's most whimsical denizens, and the fact that this character not only worked at all, but worked well is a testament the the writers at Mutant Enemy. Lorne, quite frankly, should have been pure cheese, a cornball character and just another demon. Only he wasn't. Playing the sage, he was able to deliver sound advice with a flair, and we were all better for having known the character, and thankful to the actor who gave him life. Fittingly enough, when I hear the opening lines of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" I think of Lorne before I think of Dorothy.
