25 Greatest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

16. DC's Legends Of Tomorrow

The CW

When DC's Legends of Tomorrow first hit screens, it was criticised for being a poor attempt to showcase some of the Arrowverse's "B-list heroes" in what was clearly a Doctor Who rip-off. A tad harsh perhaps because, for all its faults, the show was decent, but that was a criticism that ultimately spawned the most enjoyable show on television.

Living up to the stereotypes, Legends dropped all pretences and embraced the sheer ludicrousness of a team of misfits travelling through time in a giant space-ship, and in a matter of episodes, it became a wacky off-the-wall pantomime that approached every single storyline with reckless abandon.

With time demons, giant plush-dolls and a telepathic gorilla surfing on a space-ship (kid you not), Legends of Tomorrow now showcases the absolute absurdity of the science-fiction genre while also using that absurdity to further its characters' emotional arcs in surprisingly clever and mature ways. And to this day it remains one of the most enjoyable superhero shows on TV.
