25 Greatest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

11. The Flash

The X Files
The CW

The seamless blend between science fiction and superheroism doesn't get any more engaging than The Flash. A hero born of a particle-accelerating lightning strike, DC's Scarlet Speedster was the personification of everything that the good-hearted Barry Allen was on the inside as it had finally manifested on the outside; giving him the means to track down the monster that murdered his mother when he was a child.

A light-hearted dose of comic book splendour, The Flash is a callback to the golden age of superhero television, reminding audiences why super-powered heroes remain one of the most pleasant forms of escapism - and it does all that by secretly mixing in some of the most complex forms of science fiction imaginable.

From metahumans to multiverses, the show is willing to push its creative boundaries as absolutely far as it needs to and that, alongside one of the best characterised protagonists on television, makes The Flash a constant superhero of sci-fi.
