25 Greatest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

10. Stargate SG-1

The Stargate franchise is a long and winding labyrinth of continuity confusion and "wait, which one comes next?", but it's the first series, Stargate SG-1, that remains its greatest entry.

A sequel to the 1994 film, SG-1 is set a year after the events of that flick and follows a U.S. Air Force Special-Ops team that traverses the galaxy in a bid to protect earth from the dangers that awaits it out in space by preventing any potential threat from accessing the planet through a Stargate.

It would go on to enjoy tremendous success with unique creatures such as the Goa'uld adequately serving as long-running antagonists, as it ran for an impressive 10 seasons and ultimately spawned a truck-load of spin-offs (such as Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe).

There's an irony in the fact that a spin-off TV show became far more revolutionary inside of its own genre than the original film, but Stargate SG-1 accomplished that and so much more.
