25 Greatest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time
5. V
The world watched in both awe and horror in the early '80s as they were introduced to Kenneth Johnson's masterful miniseries V. A spectacle that pushed the boundaries of sci-fi as we knew it, it centred on the arrival of the 'Visitors' - a race of aliens that came in peace on the surface but, just like the lizards that lay beneath their human skin, their true intentions were a lot more sinister.
A haunting tale that was both revolutionary in the visual department and the story it told, the original miniseries and its 1984 sequel The Final Battle were examples of just how cinema-like science fiction television was capable of being when allowed to thrive, and even though the subsequent series was more Dynasty in Space than its goosebump-inducing predecessors, the overall story - and that show-stealing performance from Jane Badler as the deliciously diabolical Diana - have etched the original V franchise in the hearts and minds of viewers forever.
