25 Greatest TV Theme Tunes Of All Time

14. The O.C

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8iuQNC-jgo This theme tune probably takes me back to my teenage years more than any other song on this list, and although I ended up falling out of love with the series, the initial 2 were pretty good weren't they? I would even make the argument that this theme song (which I had on my I-Pod for many years during the 2000's) was probably one of the reasons why I initially started watching this program. Arguably it is not a theme in the sense that many others are on this list because the song by Phantom Planet wasn't written for this TV program, but regardless, who doesn't think of this show when they hear this very recognizable theme song.

13. Dawson's Creek

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT0TjcVkCks Again, much like The O.C, this theme tune also isn't technically a theme and wasn't written for the show, but again, this song is most famous for its use in this show so it definitely deserves its place on this list. I didn't watch this show in its original run and have only seen about 10 or so episodes since (and won't be watching any more) but regardless of the fact that I am not really a fan of the TV series I am a fan of the very very 90's sounding theme tune. I like to sing along to this song very dramatically when I am all alone, and it is arguably my favorite song to sing to in this entire list (with perhaps the exception of the song at number 1)- I don't know what that says about me, but you know, "I don't want to wait... for our lives to be over"... a classic. How can you not love this song?

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
