12. Twin Peaks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7d0Lm_31BE&feature=related This theme tune here is theme tune perfection, perfectly matching the eerie-ness and haunting nature of this very excellent television show which you should definitely watch if you haven't already. Despite not really being that much of a fan of David Lynch (except for this TV show) the composer of this tune, Angelo Badalamenti is a frequent Lynch collaborator and I am always a fan of Lynch's use of music in his films. Personally, I find this show to be the single most frightening TV series I have ever watched with moments during the show which have made me the most scared I have ever been. This theme tune alone used to make me super scared about the upcoming episode, but I would never ever ever skip through this long opening credits scene even though I watched about 3 episodes back to back (I watched this show recently on a box set) because I wanted the unsettling atmosphere this tune would put me in before I was faced with the possibility of having to see "BOB's" terrifying grin again.
11. Dr Who
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV6bbP1rZ84 Certainly one of the most iconic theme tunes on this list (especially if you are from the UK) that although I am not personally a fan of this TV series (I did watch the David Tennent couple of series but can't say I enjoyed it all that much) , how could I exclude this from the list. I think had I excluded this tune I would have been bombarded with much hate in the comments section... The theme I have included here is the 2010 theme from Doctor Who- I am aware there are various variations on this tune but I don't know all the differences. If you think an older version is slightly better than this, please tell me in the comments section.
