22. The Time Of Angels/Flesh And Stone

With nowhere near the colossal acclaim that Blink has, this Series 5 two-parter is a severely underrated and impressive sequel story for those creeping Weeping Angels. Effectively the Aliens to Blink's Alien, the story sees the Doctor, accompanied by a troop of militaristic priests, journey into a maze of the dead, filled to the brim with Angels. The nifty new powers the Angels are gifted with might not fit with those seen in Blink, but it does keep things fresh and means you never know what's coming. Whilst setting up numerous ongoing plot threads, including the mystery of why River Song's in prison and the truth behind the time cracks, these episodes are also a finely-plotted yarn in themselves. A worthy follow-up to Blink.
