30 Greatest Doctor Who Episodes Of The Revived Series

23. Utopia/The Sound Of Drums/Last Of The Time Lords

After the Daleks and the Cybermen (and, erm... the Macra), the next big adversary to return to the show had to be the Master, right? This epic three-parter (the only one in the modern series) brought the Doctor's best enemy back with aplomb. These episodes see the return of Captain Jack, a post-apocalyptic Earth, the end of the universe itself and more, but John Simm's wise-cracking, petulant supervillain still steals the show, although Derek Jacobi's maleficent Master gives him a run for his money. The final episode may harm the overall quality with its dodgy 'Jesus Doctor' but the rest of the story packs such a punch it's possible to look past it.
