20. The End Of Time

It just shows how many great episodes there are in Doctor Who when the swansong of one of the most popular Doctors ever can only make it to number 20. Made up of two feature-length parts, The End of Time is surely the grandest of all regeneration stories. Stuffed with familiar faces, the resurrection of the Master and the return of the Time Lords, the story has enough material to fill a series. At the heart of it, however, is the Tenth Doctor's raging against the dying of the light, as he bemoans his immovable fate. This Doctor might have a little less dignity in death than other incarnations but no Doctor Who fan can truly say they didn't well up at 'I don't want to go'. None of us wanted him to go, either!
