30 Greatest TV Sitcoms Of All Time

9. Arrested Development

Revolving around the once-wealthy Bluth Family, Arrested Development looks at some of TV's most bizarre, selfish and manipulative characters.

At the centre of the family is Michael (Jason Bateman), a sensible and clever guy who just wants to keep his family together and out of trouble. They have recently lost all their money after the family patriarch (Jeffrey Tambor) is arrested for fraud charges, but continue to strive for their old lifestyles and remain arrogantly materialistic.

Running for three seasons on Fox between 2003 and 2006, before being revived by Netflix for three more seasons between 2013 and 2019, the shenanigans are led by Bateman, Will Arnett, Jessica Walters, Michael Cera and David Cross and feature more laughs than nearly anything on TV.

Regarded early in its run as an underrated gem lost to other, bigger shows, Arrested Development has now gained a large cult following and is seen as one of the very best shows of the 2000s, thanks to its break-neck speed and constant call-backs to earlier events.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
