Though it received some mixed reviews upon the release of its first season - picking up flak for being a weaker rendition of The Office - Parks and Rec's future seasons proved to be much more popular and better reviewed.
Thanks in part to the performances of the dry-witted and understated Nick Offerman and leading lady Amy Poehler, and the clever and mature writing, the show managed to run for seven seasons and build up a cult following.
Following the misadventures of Indiana's local officials as they attempt to make their town a better place, Parks and Rec offers frequent laughs because of the deep and compelling characters it explores.
Supporting actors Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari and a brilliant pre-MCU/Jurassic World Chris Pratt make it one of TV's best ensemble shows, full of characters whose predicaments and personal drama drive every season regardless of how many episodes they end up appearing in. Their 2020 reunion special was also a great little addition to the series.
