30 Stars You Forgot Appeared On The X-Files

4. Joe Morton

Known for his role as scientist Miles Dyson in James Cameron's classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Joe Morton joined The X-Files as prosecutor Martin Wells, an old pal of John Doggett's (note the T2 connection between Robert Patrick and Morton) who finds himself accused of the murder of his wife - and who is also moving backwards through time, living each day as the day before, not the day after. In short, he's slowly moving back towards the point of the murder - which he has no memory of. It is, frankly, a brilliant episode, helped greatly by the stellar performance Morton puts on as Wells, who really is the leading character in the episode. Scully and Doggett are present, of course, but they're really just window dressing. It's Wells who you follow, and a lesser performance might have made the episode comical or just plain hokey. Luckily, Morton's portrayal stands up to repeated viewings, and Redrum is one of the best scripted late-season X-Files episodes as a result, though criminally underrated by critics who simply complained about the lack of the main characters. Guess you can't please everyone.
