31 Hottest New TV Shows Currently In Production

12. Scream (2014)

Despite the relatively ruinous impact of 2011's fourth Scream film, there remains enough good feeling around Wes Craven's self-referential slasher property to ensure that the forthcoming TV adaptation sails on to screens on a tide of positive expectation. New characters and presumably new killers is definitely a good thing - though we can surely expect cameos - and the simple slasher formula should carry the same old magic for at least the first episodes. The Selling Point: Horror on TV is big business again, and thankfully it looks like there won't be the same tired retreads that did for Scream 4. The Concerns: Scream 4 still ominously looms large in the memory, and it's on MTV.

11. American Crime (2014)

From 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley, American Crime is set in California€™s Central Valley and focuses on a racially charged murder and the subsequent trial, seen through the eyes of everyone involved. We can expect volatility and a focus on weighty issues like race, class and gender politics, as the community around the crime deal with the shockwaves caused. The Selling Point: Ridley's recent prowess is proven thanks to the acclaim of 12 Years A Slave, and the promise of tense character dynamics is extremely alluring. The Concerns: At this stage, there really aren't any, though it's not the kind of show that is likely to inspire longevity.
