4. The Plan

Nothing in Preacher is ever straightforward, and this is certainly the case with Jesse's plan in Sonsabitches. As he's indebted to his grandmother after she saved Tulip's life, the preacher is forced to come up with a plan to escape the evil woman before it's too late. This proves difficult, as she's watching his every move, and refuses to let him out of her sight.

Jesse decides to contact Herr Star in order to get his soul back, but that's not really what he's interested in. When his soul was taken from him, he also lost the power of Genesis. But, should he regain this other-worldly ability, then he'll be able to force the devilish Marie L'Angelle to leave him alone once and for all - and she will have no choice but to comply. It's a pretty genius plan, but - in typical Preacher fashion - the way Jesse executes it is extremely complicated, which makes it all the more enjoyable to watch.
