4 Ups & 7 Downs From Doctor Who - Revolution Of The Daleks

2. Yaz's Off-Screen Development

Yaz has been an incredibly overlooked character in this new era of Doctor Who, second only to The Doctor herself. There have been flickers of development for the character, but they're usually left well alone come the next episode. After some big potential in 'Can You Hear Me?', it appears that Yaz has been doing some confidence-boosting and swotting away in the TARDIS house in her own time. In 'Revolution of the Daleks,' she feels like almost an entirely new character.

We knew she was The Doctor's biggest fan, but she's dialled it up to 11 in her absence, and appears to have garnered more alien knowledge to take into the field, as demonstrated by wanting to take samples of the Osaka goop before it being revealed to be liquified humans. Having Yaz grow as a character is something we as viewers have been pleading for since her introduction in 2018, and yet, this first step of her hopeful new development all happened while we weren't looking.

While the idea of her bonding and growing with The Doctor across Series 13 sounded like an exciting prospect, Chibnall has proceeded to introduce John Bishop as 'Dan', thereby removing that potential for some much needed love in both The Doctor and Yaz's character department.

Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
