4 Ups & 7 Downs From Doctor Who - Revolution Of The Daleks

3. Not Enough Dalek & Rehashed Story Beats

Daleks are always an exciting adversary to be up against on the show. The Daleks made the show what it is today back in the Sixties, and even though we've had some mediocre affairs across NuWho, 'Resolution' kick-started a positive revival for the iconic enemy, in this writer's humble opinion. However, 'Revolution' decided to relegate the Daleks to the side lines, and delivery a story full of beats we've seen multiple times before across both New and Classic Who.

Major 'Victory of the Daleks' vibes come off the 'defence drones' concept, and the 'SAS' Daleks destroying said drones for their lack of purity also parallels the Paradigm Daleks' approach to Bracewell's Ironsides. Not only that, the purity debate and civil war-like approach (which basically all happened off-screen, boring) is heavily similar to the Daleks' story arc across the 1980s. If you're wanting a good Dalek civil war story to sink your teeth into after this shallow affair, watch 'Resurrection, Revelation, and Remembrance of the Daleks' in that order. It's a fantastic Dalek trilogy.

Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
