5 Actors Who Hated Working On Game Of Thrones
3. Jack Gleeson - Joffrey Baratheon
When it comes to villainy in the land of Westeros, nothing was ever crystal clear. There were undoubtedly evil figures, but even the worst of them still had human moments that made you see the grey area in morality.
Joffrey, however, was not one of these people, as his horrifying temper, vengeful tendencies, cowardice, and abuse of power made him one of the most detested characters on TV.
A lot of this came down to the flawless performance from Jack Gleeson, who took the part by the horns and rode it to victory. With the amount of success he found, it seemed that the world had a new superstar on its hands, but he ended up leaving the acting world behind, and Game of Thrones had a part to play in that.
He's discussed how he used to find acting an enjoyable recreation, but gaining fame from it wasn't something he wanted. The newly found popularity that he garnered from Game of Thrones was something he hated, and thus it's no surprise he sought to end it after his character's death.
Gleeson even went on to cite further frustration with the show regarding their depictions of violence against women, as he found that it was "unfair and unjust to represent it, even if the gloss on the representation was a negative one".
Gleeson has stated that after leaving, he refrained from watching the show.
