1. JAG
Now we arrive at what may be the most fascinating of these shows. While Family Guy was resurrected twice, and Arrested Development is coming back to life after 7 long seasons DOA, their story pales in comparison to JAG. JAG began as a show on NBC, which is almost as bad as Fox as far as cancelling shows prematurely. JAG was no different as NBC cancelled it before the 1st season finished airing. CBS, America's leader in primetime television by the way, decided to buy the rights to the show and give it a chance. Beginning in 1997, JAG went on to run for 9 seasons. 9 seasons. JAG was on television 2 years longer than Arrested Development was dead and gone. 9 seasons is quite an impressive run for any show, much less one that was cancelled before its first season was finished airing. Even more impressive than almost surviving a decade after being cancelled, is the fact that JAG lives on in spirit on CBS even today. NCIS, one of CBS' most popular dramas, is a
spinoff of JAG. NCIS now has its own spinoff in NCIS: Los Angeles which has gained quite a following itself. When your spinoff gains its own spinoff, and both shows are flying high, I think it garners the honor of being the most fascinating tv show resurrection. I think that it speaks volumes that 4 of our 5 shows on this list today were cancelled by the same network, that being Fox. The saddest part of this fact is that they are not the only 4 shows cancelled by Fox. In fact, Fox is so ridiculously bad about cancelling shows prematurely, Family Guy did a extremely long and hilarious segment about all of the shows Fox had cancelled between Family Guy's cancellation and its return. I decided to go with these 5 shows because they happened to be shows which I enjoyed and was elated they were able to get new life, in whatever form. They are by no means the only shows which have been resurrected after an unfair or premature cancellation.
