5 Doctor Who Actors Who Haven't Quite Made It To Hollywood

1. David Tennant

Yes, yes, yes. David Tennant can do no wrong in the eyes of his legion of dedicated followers but surely even they can't deny the formidable fact that his attempts to conquer on the US have thus far gone down like multiple lead balloons. It all started with Rex Is Not Your Lawyer back in 2009. Flying the fly for Doctor Who alumni in the US, the proposed police drama would've made a Stateside star of the Tenth Doctor actor by introducing him to American audiences as Rex Alexander, a top litigator who became so crippled by panic attacks that he could no longer appear in the courtroom so started coaching his clients to represent themselves instead. Gripping stuff. The proposed police drama ultimately failed to progress any further than its pilot, though, after the project was shelved owing to the fact that David's American accent was almost unbearably awful. That's not the main reason cited for its untimely demise, of course (in fact, a real explanation hasn't even been given), though it was probably one of the main contributing factors. The whole thing was put together in a matter of weeks, too, which probably didn't work in its favour. Next up, Fox attempted to capitalise on the phenomenal success of Broadchurch in the UK by launching a US reboot which, for some reason, was pretty much an exact remake but starred David Tennant as a different character who was still the show's police officer protagonist. Suffice to say, it didn't manage to reach the same levels of acclaim as its original UK counterpart. Gracepoint was canned after one season after it plummeted in the ratings over the course of its initial 10 week run. Ah well. It was worth a try. What do you think of this list?
