5 Doctor Who Writers Who Should Return For Series 9 (Plus 5 New Ones)

2. Charlie Brooker

Charlie Brooker The suggestion that Doctor Who should be "more edgy" is a criticism commonly thrown in the Time Lord's direction, although how much edgier can a programme centered around the life of a time travelling alien with two hearts realistically get? That being said, one writer who would definitely be able to inject a breath of fresh air - and them some - into the TARDIS is Charlie Brooker. With a track record of acclaimed shows, including Dead Set and Black Mirror, behind him, Charlie's unique style of writing continously manages to break the mould whilst always remaining culturally relevant - two things which Doctor Who also happens to strive towards. What's more, Charlie is a self confessed Whovian who has proven he definitely knows his Slitheen from his Silurian, and he's also revealed that he would "consider" contributing to the series if the opportunity ever came about. "There's a lot of ideas that go on in it and the scenario changes," he said in an interview in 2011. "There's a lot of room for creating things within it." That's one way of putting it, yeah... In the meantime, here's a gif of him reacting to the closing moments of Dark Water. * Tumblr Lgp9ztw8py1qbggmro1 500 Gif * Not really!
