5 Facts Everyone Thinks They Know About Doctor Who (That Are Actually False)

2. The Doctor's An Alien

eighth-doctor-paul-mcgann-7 The Doctor€™s a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. It's a cornerstone of the series but, although the specifics of this were not revealed until the Second Doctor€™s final story €˜The War Games€™ in 1969, he was assuredly an alien from the start. Right? Actually, he may never have been... In the Eighth Doctor€™s only television appearance in a TV movie entitled, um, €˜Doctor Who€™ the Doctor reveals that he is in fact half-human, on his mother€™s side. We could perhaps right this off as a newly-regenerated Doctor spouting nonsense but shortly after the Master, oh yes he€™s in this too, discovers the Doctor possesses €˜the retinal structure of the human eye€™ €“ €˜the Doctor€™s half-human€™ he reiterates, €˜no wonder.€™ So, there you have it. Everyone€™s favourite eccentric alien is not, in fact, completely alien. Many fans have been waiting (or perhaps hoping, in many cases) for a line in an episode broadcast since to contradict this but no such line has come. Until then we must assume that the Eighth Doctor and the Master were telling the truth€. What could top this shocking revelation? Is there anything about the Doctor we know for sure? Doctor Who, indeed! Well, now you mention it€
