5 HUGE Plot Holes You Didn't Notice In Crisis On Infinite Earths
2. Reverse-Flash's Absence Literally Doesn't Make Any Sense
While Crisis On Infinite Earths was undoubtedly a roaring success, the most disappointing thing about it was undoubtedly the absence of Eobard Thawne himself: the Reverse-Flash. The evil speedster from the future was the one who introduced audiences to the notion of the Crisis back in the very first episode of The Flash when he accessed that now-infamous 2024 newspaper in the time vault - a newspaper that referenced an epic battle between him and the Scarlet Speedster under those crimson skies of death.
Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim explained to TVLine that, as the Reverse-Flash scenario was created by showrunners who weren't part of the crossover they didn't want to be beholden to a headline written six years ago. That's all well and good, but it wasn't just that headline that confirmed Thawne's return, as Nora West-Allen's arrival confirmed that the pair were going to battle in the Crisis - due to a new headline set 25 years Post-Crisis - and the fact that her inadvertent manipulation of the timeline resulted in Thawne's escape from Death Row. And when he made his escape, he explicitly told Barry that he would see him during his next Crisis.
Thus, we're now expected to believe that a fixed point in time that simply couldn't be changed no matter how hard any member of Team Flash tried can now suddenly be manipulated to suit the narrative? Doesn't sound like a good enough excuse to literally come in and change something fans had been waiting half a decade to see, and in all honesty, it undercut five years of wonderful foreshadowing.
