3. The Show€™s Creator Kurt Sutter Is Married To Katey Sagal Who Plays Gemma Teller

I€™ll give you a minute€ This was the big one for me, I had no idea of this connection. Gemma Teller is a fantastic character in the show, she is an unrequited pain in the ass and leader of the pack, she is the alpha female keeping every male and family member in check. She has had some of the best storylines sometimes baring the most violence and difficult to watch scenes in the whole of the series. Season 2 in particular showed just how great of an actress Katey Sagal is, with the kidnap and rape of Gemma. I find the marriage of her and Sutter even more surprising when I think of this season. It is so brave to have your wife play such a crucial and bold character in the series which you create, with the level of violence and terror in Season 2 there would have to be such a high level of trust there to ensure certain scenes were written correctly in keeping with the fact that your wife is the actress playing the victim. As we all know, Katey Sagal starred in Married with Children alongside Ed O€™Neil. Sons Of Anarchy is a stark contrast to Sagal€™s character in Married with Children, with Ed O€™Neil starring in a familiar and possibly less challenging role in his recent career as head of the family Jay Pritchett in the comedy series Modern Family.
