5 Reasons How I Met Your Mother Finale Is As Bad As You Remember (And 3 Reasons It Isn't)
5. Is As Bad: Robin Loses Touch With The Gang
This is both a good and bad aspect of the finale. For starters, the way in which the gang begin to drift apart later in life makes sense from a realistic stand-point, because we all lose touch with the people we care about in time, be it down to careers, family or moving away.
That being said, seeing Robin lose touch with the others was a bitter pill to swallow. Of course, her not being particularly close with Barney makes sense, since they just broke up after three years of marriage, but the fact that in her travels Robin doesn't stay in touch with Lily feels a bit too much.
Robin and Lily were best friends, after all, and it would have made sense that they made an effort to at least try and stay connected.
It also creates something of a plothole, since throughout the series Ted has been telling his kids that the gang always got together on Thanksgiving and to go to the annual Robots versus Wrestlers show, but when she meets Ted's daughter, Penny doesn't seem to know what Robin's name is.
It can be seen as realistic, a valid representation of life that fits in with Robin's high profile, international job, but after everything it doesn't really make sense that they would all lose touch so drastically.
