5. Jeff Daniels/Will McAvoy
Will McAvoy is a great character. He is arrogant, rude and selfish - and he knows it. Despite this he is relatable and possesses an optimistic faith in people, not least those on his news team. Top that with the trademark Aaron Sorkin sense of humour and Will is a character as likeable as West Wing favourite Josh Lyman but with a sharper tongue. His interactions with Mackenzie set them up as a couple that belong together but cant get across the bridges required to make it work. More often than not, it results in razor-tongued playground bickering which is great fun to watch. The casting of Jeff Daniels was perfect, he embodies the character and, for all the talking he does, his face is where the story is really told.
