5 Reasons Why A Friends Movie (Sadly) Wouldn't Work

1. Everyone€™s Storyline Was Wrapped Up

TheLastOneBow (1) At the end of the day, is there really any need to ruffle up these beloved characters' narratives again? Friends is famous for having a particularly long run of seasons, and maintaining its ratings and critical success. As such, the writers were able to tie up all the main characters' stories better than most. Perhaps some things are best left untouched. It would be a disaster for a reunion movie to fail because, given the wild success of the series, the fall would inevitable be much worse. It€™s true what they say: the higher the climb, the further the fall. Monica and Chandler married, adopted twins and moved to suburbs. Phoebe married Mike and the possibility of children was hinted at in the finale. Rachel and Ross FINALLY hooked-up and, we can safely assume, for the last time. They, of course, already had Emma two years before. The only character who did not get a long term resolution was Joey, and the character€™s spin-off (adaptly named Joey) is a true testament to why some things should be left well enough alone. The series bombed and the second season did not even finish airing. If a Friends off-shoot didn€™t work on television isn€™t that an indication of the damage a movie could possibly do?

Hey, I'm Deneo, I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland, in the UK, and have recently graduated from university as a student of sociology and culture. Over the course of my uni degree, I have become interested in socio-cultural discussion of just about anything and enjoy trying to apply it to pop culture topics, such as tv, film and music.
