5 Reasons You Should Watch Mr. Robot

1. Rami Malek

USA Network

It feels weird to say this but Rami Malek is STILL an incredibly underrated actor, despite the popular debate about whether he deserved his Oscar.

Malek (deservedly) won his academy award when he played Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, and many sceptics say that it wasn't completely earned as he didn't sing for the role.

This is a fair enough complaint - but really, even if Rami Malek was the best singer in the world, it would have been incredibly hard to have had anyone other than Freddie singing those notes without the audience feeling something was off. Freddie Mercury's voice is just too iconic.

It would also be a sure fire win to put money on the fact that those that say Malek didn't deserve his Oscar have not watched Mr. Robot.

Before Mr. Robot, Malek could only be seen in small parts in Night At The Museum, 24 and eventually a slightly bigger role with his future John Deacon in The Pacific. But it was Elliot Alderson that made Rami Malek the star he is today and why you will be seeing him as Saffin in No Time To Die.

Elliot Alderson could not have been played by anyone else. Rami Malek is absolutely spell binding and screen dominating in Mr. Robot. Sam Esmail created a brilliant three dimensional character, but it is Rami Malek that turns him into a fully fledged human being.

You will never again feel such compassion for someone who in real life probably wouldn't want to have anything to do with you. Malek plays the struggling, depressed loner who struggles with various neuroses fantastically well, and puts Elliot Alderson up on the same pedestal as the likes of Rick Grimes and Walter White.

And the most spectacular part is that Malek as Elliot is only the tip of the ice berg when it comes to phenomenal performances in this show...
