5 Returning TV Shows That Improved This Season and 5 That Got Worse

Shows That Got Worse

5. Modern Family Season 4

There once was a time when Modern Family and Glee went head to head at award shows competing for best Comedy Series, and believe it or not, in the early days of the shows, Glee would often come up on top. Both shows this year faced the tricky task of sending characters to university but in this respect here Modern Family epically failed. Much of Season 3 focused on Haley trying to get into university and succeeding, but this year the creators decided to take Haley out of university for stupidly unbelievable reasons because they simply were too lazy to work out how to incorporate her into the show whilst being away from home. Modern Family Season 4, like most sitcoms, is beginning to get too predictable in it's forth season and no longer deserves the title of the best comedy series on TV, if it actually ever did to begin with. The jokes this year are getting even more stereotypical and arguably insulting and most of the time it feels like we are being presented with the same old ideas over and over again. The show still manages to make me laugh on occasion, and I still love Phil Dumfy, but this is not great, groundbreaking TV anymore and I for one am quickly beginning to get bored.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
