5 Returning TV Shows That Improved This Season and 5 That Got Worse

4. American Horror Story: Asylum

I enjoyed the first Season of American Horror Story right until the last run of episodes where it was clear the writers didn't really know where they were going from the beginning and tried to tie up all the weird loose ends in generally unsatisfying ways. Although there were few complaints last year and the show was nominated for lots of awards, had people known at the time that the shows set up would only be a one season thing, and we would never see the characters from Season 1 again, I think a lot more people would have been really disappointed with the finale. A common complaint of Ryan Murphy shows is that he tries to do too much all at once, and never commits to one solid, well thought out idea. This is arguably a weakness of this current season, combining Nazi's, Mutants, Aliens, and Devil possession and leaving the viewer a little confused and unsatisfied. The season could pick up again next year, and maybe Ryan Murphy has a plan this time to the direction of the series, but if not I predict a very unsatisfying and uninspired season finale. I am also quickly getting bored with the Asylum setting. This all said though, I am still enjoying the show and it isn't even close to being the worst thing on TV.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
