5 Returning TV Shows That Improved This Season and 5 That Got Worse

3. 30 Rock Season 730-Rock 30 Rock used to be my favorite comedy series on TV. It isn't anymore. Why this is, I am not entirety sure but if I had to pick a reason it is probably because the show doesn't do character development very well, if even at all. Sure, sitcoms need character development less, at least traditionally, and much of the point of a sitcom is that you can pick it up anywhere along its run and more or less get what is going on. That said, most other modern sitcoms do character development quite well, but how much has Liz Lemon really changed since Season 1? Not that much at all. Because there is very little character development, and very little plot development, I am beginning to quickly lose interest in the show and I am at this point thankful that this is the last season. When 30 Rock is funny, it is arguably the funniest thing on TV, but the laughs are less frequent than they used to be, and I feel like at this point I have seen all the jokes the show has to offer time and time again. Also, the whole Liz Lemon marriage plot would be a lot stronger if James Marsden featured in the show more, but because he often goes whole episodes without appearing most of the time you forget that Liz is even in a relationship at all.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
