5 SNL Characters That Deserved Their Own Movie

2. Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker (Chris Farley)

matt foley Go ahead, say it, just once. Get it out of your system. "You'll have plenty of time for that, when you're living in a VAN down by THE RIVER!!" Better? Good. Now let's continue.... Chris Farley quickly became the most loved SNL cast member during his tenure on the show. His exuberance, energy, and a general unstoppable feeling about him made him steal the show in every single sketch. The best example of that? Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker. In these sketches Farley played a homeless man who tried to get himself jobs motivating people's teenaged children, and taking the opportunity to try to move in with the family ("I am sick and tired of living in a VAN down by THE RIVER!!"). The skits usually featured plenty of yelling and property destruction. See that table in the above pic? Soon to be smashed. As for a film adaption, it would be perfectly suited to the unique style of Chris Farley and David Spade's road trip movies (Tommy Boy and, to a lesser extent, Black Sheep). Just find some way to work Spade into the script more prominently, and there you go. And once more, just for kicks. Say it with me. "You'll have plenty of time for that, when you're living in a VAN down by THE RIVER!!"
