4. Hypospray
An early scene of 2009's Star Trek finds Bones obsessively injecting Jim with viruses and vaccines. When shot, the device hisses compressed air. He used a hypospray, which delivers medicine to the body without puncturing the skin. Though hyposprays have since become fact, its usage is not widespread. If it was, children (and adults) would no longer fear the doctor. Why would they? Shots would be painless and patients would remain tear-free. Also, infection at the injection site would be less likely. Hyposprays are also useful in the Star Trek universe because they can collect air samples and can be used on multiple people without spreading sickness.
