5 Things We NEED From Christopher Eccleston's Doctor Who Return

After 15 years, the Ninth Doctor returns! What do we want from this special new Big Finish series?

He’s Back! Big Finish have just announced that Christopher Eccleston will return to Doctor Who for twelve new adventures as the Ninth Doctor.

For years, most people were certain Eccleston would never return to the role, with this being driven home considerably by his lack of appearance in the fiftieth anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor. However, we have been proven wrong as he now returns to the part. Eccleston said:

“After 15 years it will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor's world, bringing back to life a character I love playing.”

While I won’t go into why Eccleston left the show back in 2005, it truly is fantastic (reference intended) that he feels he can return to the part, with him also noting it’s largely due to the love of the fans.

To date, Big Finish has seen the return of Doctors Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, War, and Ten by their original actors, and can now add the original NuWho Doctor to that list. Involved are a cracking team of writers who could all bring something fresh and original to this much loved era.

As of right now, we know very little about these four volumes, just that it’s Eccleston as the Doctor with currently twelve stories commissioned. These stories are due for release in May, August, November of 2021 and February 2022.

So what five things do we want to see from Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor Who return?
