Smallville's theme song "Save Me" takes on new meaning with this Clark Kent. As part of CW's ongoing campaign to make Superman lesser than their series stars he always requires their rescue.
Martian Manhunter saved him from Metallo. That was early in season two, not to be confused with the end when Supergirl beat him silly, then saved the world while he cleaned up after her. After a year and a half break fans were rewarded with seeing him lead the heroes into battle against Amazo where he launched an opening salvo of super-punches ...that all failed to connect.
Not even one.
Amazo swatted him aside, and he seemed to sit out much of the fight until the end when he was one of several heroes who helped pin Amazo down for Barry's Elseworld Green Arrow to finish him off. Maybe Clark was right to refuse credit for that. Elseworlds Part 3 saw what may be the final fight for Superman which featured a great battle against an evil Superman...which ended with Supergirl saving him. He got back into the action though, but only for Amazo to return to knock Superman down again. He was saved by the sudden appearance of Lois Lane, Brainiac 5, and Martian Manhunter.
