2. You Bet
You Bet used to be king of ITV prime time. Originally hosted by Bruce Forsyth, it really came into its own between 91-95 when fronted by Matthew Kelly. Each week thered be a set of challenges that people had come to do (things ranging from memorising a Chinese menu, to landing a helicopter on a moving lorry), and a panel of celebrities who had to guess whether theyd be successful at their challenge or not. The audience also voted, with the way they voted determining the score the celebrities would win if they were correct. This was Saturday night unpredictable entertainment TV at its finest; it allowed people from all walks of life to get their 15 seconds of fame while never failing to come up with some bizarre and simply scary challenges. You Bet had a good run in the early 90s but in the end it was replaced by Dont Try This At Home which was based on You Bet, but with more insane challenges and the removal of audience participation.
Ideas For A Reboot: You Bet is
the ideal show to bring back that will finally get the audience at home interacting with ITV in the way they've always seemed to want. Broadcast live, viewers at home can vote on their predictions (via apps or Internet like C4 does with Million Pound Drop), and win prizes throughout the show. ITV bosses take note, this would be far cheaper than X-Factor and you wouldn't have to deal with Cowell!
