This was an episode that indulged in the personal history of the Doctor, showing almost all of his incarnations. It was a treat in itself to see all the Doctors in almost brand new scenes. Smug fans were all boasting their knowledge about which episode some of the cannibalised footage came from, but then the rug was pulled from the feet of even the most dedicated fan as if to tell them they know nothing! A forgotten Doctor. But no, not Peter Cushing, but a grave-faced John F-ing Hurt! Anyone who thought they knew the Doctor before was seriously unnerved as weeks and months of speculation followed. Everybody had questions, thanks to this superb and memorable moment, the effects of which will be felt in many years to come. So what did you make of the list?
