6 Best Female Villains In New Doctor Who (And Why They Work So Well)

3. Margaret Blaine

Margaret Blaine, otherwise known as Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen, first appeared in the two-part €œAliens of London€ and €œWorld War Three€. The less said about those episodes the better. Her appearance in €œBoom Town€ however, cemented her place as one of Doctor Who€™s most fascinating female baddies. It is her interaction with the ninth Doctor that make Margaret so much more interesting than in her previous episodes. He is determined to return her to her home planet where she faces a sentence of death. Margaret attempts to kill the Doctor are halfhearted at best but she is not at all averse to using manipulation to try and gain his sympathy. Annette Badland€™s performance is key in creating a character that is more than a generic villain. Margaret is committed to her evil plans but every action is tinged with a hint of resignation and exhaustion. She uses her abusive upbringing as an excuse for her choices but the story is related with a kind of raw honesty that lends her character some much needed depth. When Margaret is regressed to an egg and given a second chance at life it feels right and fitting.
