6 Major Daredevil And Jessica Jones Reveals From New York Comic Con

4. The Pressure Of Playing The Punisher

Despite bringing the entire cast of Daredevil to the New York Comic Con, Marvel didn't exactly spill the beans on what fans should expect from the series when it returns next year in terms of specific plot details. It's still early days of course, and with the focus on Jessica Jones ahead of her small screen debut next month, they no doubt want to keep people talking about that series for the time being. Of course, regardless of the secrecy surrounding his role in the series, excitement is at an all-time high for Jon Bernthal's (The Walking Dead) take on The Punisher, with many already hoping that it ultimately leads to the violent vigilante receiving his own spinoff. The actor made it clear during the Q&A section of the panel that he's well aware of those high expectations and appreciates the responsibility on his shoulders: "I know how important this character is to you guys," Bernthal said. "I know that. I know how important this show is to you guys. I know how important he is to law enforcement and the military. I look at this as a huge honor, a huge responsibility. I give you my word, I'm going to give everything I have." As if to emphasise that point, he added that he has people 15 - 20 times a day coming up to him on the street to say, "You better not mess this up, man!" Given Bernthal's track record and the quality of writing in the first season of Daredevil, there's really no reason to suspect that he'll be anything other than amazing as Frank Castle, but it's nice to know that he both appreciates the responsibility that comes with finally getting this character right in live-action and that he has a genuine desire to make those who love The Punisher happy with his portrayal.
