6 Perfect Settings For The Next Star Wars Animated Shows

While a second trilogy centered on Finn and Rey is a near certainty it is also unlikely to be the next set of Star Wars films we see. I also suspect there will probably be a significant time jump of at least a few years between trilogies and a series positioned to bridge that gap much in the way of Clone Wars would be well received.

While some people have speculated on a live action Disney+ sequel an animated series has the added advantage of not requiring the participation of the original cast. As Clone Wars proves, professional voice actors can be brought in to take over for the characters if the original cast is unwilling or unable to come back and can be wildly successful at the filling those shoes. For instance, John Boyega’s stated lack of enthusiasm for TV work would not affect Finn’s ability to appear frequently and as a main character on an animated show.

As yet, there are no specific rumors of an animated sequel to Rise of Skywalker, it is the next logical step for Lucasfilm to take. As the movies branch off in different directions the sequel characters will be sidelined unless there is an effort made to keep them in the public mind.

Any such series would surely take place shortly after the main events of the film, possibly even bridging the gap between those events and the final scene. It would most likely follow Rey’s early attempts to train Finn and other new Jedi.

Even if it's not the very next animated series which we will see but it is a series that probably has to happen sometime in the near future for those characters to stay relevant enough to generate excitement several years down the line when they are revisited on the big screen after so many years of other Star Wars films.

Early Ray Mixon hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
